Abstract

Medical imaging technologies are exploding. It seems that each week new imaging modalities are announced along with medical breakthroughs utilizing this imagery. Most medical imagery involves volumetric imaging a fundamentally different method of representation from traditional polygonal computer graphics representations. In this talk Ressler will explain and compare the differences between volumetric versus polygonal imagery, why both are necessary and the role of standards for the imaging industry. All are explained with copious demonstrations as the body is sliced and diced in an entertaining and informative talk.
